Body Damage & Panel Repair
Dents, creases, accident damage and rust put right and refinished.
Read moreA cracked bumper almost never needs replacing. Plastic-welded from behind, filled, colour matched and refinished — for a fraction of the cost of a new one.
What we repair
A replacement bumper means the part, the paint and the fitting — and on a lot of modern cars, recalibrating the parking sensors and radar behind it. A proper plastic repair skips all of that.
We weld the plastic from behind so the repair has real structural strength, then fill, prime and refinish the face. Done properly, you will not find where the crack was.
Our process
The strength comes from the back. The finish comes from the front.
The bumper comes off where needed and is degreased thoroughly — plastic holds release agents and road grime that will reject paint.
The crack is V-ed out and welded with matching plastic rod, and torn mounting tabs are rebuilt so the bumper clips back on properly.
Flexible filler, flatted back, then adhesion promoter and flexible primer — ordinary primer on a bumper simply cracks off again.
Colour matched to the car, sprayed, lacquered, polished and refitted with the sensors and fixings back as they should be.
Questions
Usually, yes. A crack — even a long one — is welded from behind with matching plastic rod, which restores real strength rather than just hiding the line. The cases where we do recommend replacement are a bumper that has been shattered into pieces or one where large sections of the mounting structure are missing.
In almost every case, and often by a wide margin. A new bumper has to be bought, painted and fitted, and on many modern cars the parking sensors, cameras and radar behind it need recalibrating afterwards. A repair avoids all of that.
Not if the right materials are used, which is the whole reason bumpers need a different process from metal panels. Flexible filler and flexible primer move with the plastic instead of resisting it. Rigid body filler on a bumper is what causes those star-shaped cracks you see reappearing a winter later.
Yes. Textured plastic is repaired and then re-textured with a structure coat before colouring, so the finish matches the grain of the surrounding plastic rather than leaving a smooth, obvious patch.
